Mission Statement
The purposes of the Genealogical Society of Salem County are to further the educational study of genealogy through meetings, lectures, seminars and workshops; to promote the study of genealogy through community activities; to assist members in the methods and practices of genealogical research and the filing and retention of the same; to encourage the preservation of family history.

Directions to Our Meetings
The Genealogical Society of Salem County meets on the second Tuesday of each month from September to June. The meetings are held at 7 pm in the Fenwick Auditorium at Friends Village in Woodstown, New Jersey. (Due to COVID-19, we are now meeting at Woodstown Friends Meeting House, located at 104 North Main Street, Woodstown, NJ 08098. To get to the Friends Meeting House from the north, head south on Route 45. To get to it from the east, head west on Route 40, then turn right onto North Main Street. To get to it from the west, head east on Route 40, then turn left onto North Main Street. The Meeting House is at the curve at the intersection with Marlton Road. Enter at the back door.) Most programs are open to the public, and usually feature a guest speaker lecturing on some aspect of genealogy research or local history. The gatherings also provide a chance to network with other researchers. Additional workshops and research trips are also scheduled at other times during the year. Friends Village is located at One Friends Drive, Woodstown, NJ 08098, just off of Route 40. To get to Friends Village:
- From Carneys Point, Pennsville, or Delaware, head east on Route 40 towards Woodstown, follow Route 40 when it turns left at the Wawa, and look for the entrance on your right shortly after you pass the high school.
- From Salem, head north on Route 45, continue straight onto Route 40, and look for the entrance on your right shortly after you pass the high school.
- From Bridgeton and other areas of Cumberland County, head north on Route 77 to the Pole Tavern circle, take Route 40 west towards Woodstown, and look for the entrance on your left shortly after the first traffic light.
- From Elmer or Vineland, head west on Route 40 (exit 39B off of Route 55), continue through the traffic circle on Route 40 towards Woodstown, and look for the entrance on your left after the next traffic light.
- From Mullica Hill or Gloucester County, head south on Route 45 (exit 50B off of Route 55 will take you to Route 45 via 322W), turn left at the first traffic light in Woodstown onto Route 40, and look for the entrance on your right shortly after you pass the high school.
